Want to give your little one a birthday treat to remember? This delicious birthday cake, made from an exciting selection of traditional Dutch sweets, won’t disappoint!
Ingredients
1 pack of Honig cake mix
4 eggs
150 grams of butter
50 ml of milk
1 bottle of whipped cream
1 jar of strawberry jam
Your choice of Dutch sweets
Preparation
First preheat your oven to 160C. Meanwhile place the butter into a mixing bowl and knead until soft. Add in the cake mix, eggs and milk, and stir until it forms a smooth batter. Next pour the batter into a spring form cake tin, pop into the oven, and bake for approx. 35 minutes or until golden brown. Once ready, retrieve the cake from the oven and leave to cool for one minute prior to removing from the cake tin. Now leave the cake to cool completely. Once sufficiently cooled, cut the cake horizontally in half and liberally coat the bottom with strawberry jam, followed by a layer of whipped cream. Finally cover with the top half of the cake and decorate both the top and sides with your favourite Dutch sweets, such as Haribo Liquorice, Red Band Fun Mix, Chupa Chups Lollipops and Marshmallows.
