Fancy giving your pizza a typical Dutch twist? Then try this delicious Dutch sauerkraut pizza with smoked sausage – for an authentic Italian pizza base and that familiar Dutch flavour of yesteryear!
First preheat your oven to 200 C. Meanwhile place the sauerkraut into a non-stick pan, add in two tablespoons of water, and cook on a low heat for approx. 15 minutes. Now pop the smoked sausage into hot, but not boiling, water and leave to gently simmer for approx. 15 minutes. Next place the tomato puree into a small bowl, season with salt and pepper, and stir in one or more tablespoons of water until smooth but not too runny. Then shake the pizza mix into a mixing bowl, pour in 250 ml of water and a splash of olive oil, and knead into a smooth and supple dough. Now grease a baking tray with olive oil and cover with your freshly rolled-out dough. Next coat with the tomato sauce, using the rounded side of a spoon, and top with sauerkraut and finely sliced Dutch smoked sausage. Finally sprinkle over the grated Dutch cheese, before baking for approx. 25 minutes or until golden brown.
