Oranje sorbet (orange sorbet)

Once again the Netherlands are enjoying significant World Cup success – so, what better way to celebrate than with this delicious and gloriously patriotic orange sorbet?!


400 ml of orange juice
250 ml water
3 oranges
1 cup of sugar
The juice of 2 lemons

Orange sorbet recipe


First wash and carefully peel one of the oranges. Cut the peel into thin strips and place into a pan together with the water and sugar (retaining 4 slices for use as a garnish). Bring the mixture to a boil, before gently simmering on a low heat for about 5 minutes. Next pour through a sieve (discarding the dregs), allow to cool completely and then stir in both the orange and lemon juice. Now cut the remaining 2 oranges in half and squeeze their juice, along with the juice of the previously peeled orange, into the pan. Stir thoroughly and pour into your ice cream maker. Prepare the sorbet according to the ice cream maker instructions and place into your freezer for at least 1 hour. Finally, scoop the orange sorbet into the 4 empty orange peels, and garnish with a slither of orange zest before serving.
