Brazilian chocolate truffles (brigadeiros)

Try our tempting Brigadeiros prepared using yummy Dutch hagelslag (chocolate sprinkles) for an authentic Brazilian treat with a uniquely Dutch twist!

1 can of condensed milk
2 tbsp. of cocoa powder
4 tbsp. of butter
½ a pack of dark chocolate sprinkles

brigadeiros recipe

First pour one tablespoon of water into a small bowl and stir in the cocoa powder. Next gently heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a pan and, as soon as it has melted, pour in the condensed milk. Now gradually add in the dissolved cocoa powder and stir thoroughly. Once the mixture has thickened sufficiently so that it no longer drips from your spoon (this can take up to half an hour!), place onto a plate and pop into your fridge for half an hour, or until it forms a firm dough. Next roll the dough-like mixture into small round balls. Pour the chocolate sprinkles into a small bowl, melt a little butter in your hand, smear gently over the balls and then dip them into the chocolate sprinkles until generously coated. Lastly, pop the brigadeiros back into your fridge for thirty minutes before serving as a delicious dessert or a tasty treat with your favourite cuppa!
