Dutch Easter snacks

Paaspoffertjes (Easter mini pancakes)

If you’re expecting a large number of guests and are short on dining space, then these mouth-watering poffertjes (mini pancakes) are an ideal Easter snack. This recipe prepares approximately 50 Passpoffertjes.

1 pack of Koopmans mini pancakes mix
8 dl of milk
2 eggs
3 tablespoons of oil
A knob of butter or a splash of oil
100 grams of young Gouda cheese, Brie, hazelnut spread with banana and / or strawberry jam.

First prepare the poffertje batter according to the instructions on the packaging and then fry the pancakes in a traditional poffertjespan. Allow the poffertjes to cool before topping generously with a selection of Dutch egg salad (please refer to our recipe at: “Typical Dutch recipes using egg!“), rolled up slices of young Gouda cheese, or some tasty chunks of Brie. For the kids (and those with an extra sweet tooth) serve with a liberal coating of hazelnut spread, crowned with a slice of banana or a spoonful of strawberry jam instead.

Gevulde omeletrolletjes (stuffed omelette rolls)

These irresistible stuffed omelette rolls are perfect served with Easter drinks or as a filling TV snack in the evening.

4 eggs
2 tbsp. of milk
A sprig of parsley, finely chopped
A pinch of salt
20 grams butter
1 tin of Unox party sausages
1 bottle of Calvé chilli sauce

Preheat the party sausages according to the instructions on the packaging. Meanwhile, prepare a batter from the eggs, milk and chopped parsley, and season to taste. Next heat a little butter in a small frying pan and prepare around 6 to 8 mini-omelettes. Now pop the mini-omelettes onto a plate, drain the party sausages and place them in the centre of each omelette. Lastly, drizzle with a little chilli sauce, roll up and secure the omelettes with a cocktail stick before serving.

Hollandse mini paassalade (Dutch mini Easter salads)

If you prefer to offer your guests a healthier Easter snack this year, then these tempting mini Easter salads certainly fit the bill. Alternatively, serve as a side dish to lunch or dinner.

1 pack of mixed salad with rucola
3 tomatoes
1 cucumber
2 spring onions
4 large strawberries
2 hard-boiled eggs
4 tbsp. of Calvé salad dressing
A few sprigs of parsley

First chop the tomatoes, slice the cucumber and spring onions, and cut the strawberries into small pieces. Next pour the contents of the mixed salad pack into a mixing bowl and mix in the tomatoes, cucumber, spring onions and strawberries. Season with salt and pepper and stir in the salad dressing. Now divide the mixed salad between 6 to 8 individual salad bowls. Lastly, peel the hard-boiled eggs and cut into slices before arranging on top of each salad, along with a garnish of parsley.
