Kapucijners met spek (marrowfat peas with bacon)

Fancy a hearty Dutch winter dish? Then try marrowfat peas with bacon, a traditional Dutch winter warmer!

Ingredients:

2 jars of marrowfat peas
500g of bacon
A knob of butter
Paprika powder
Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation:

Sprinkle a little salt, pepper and paprika powder onto the bacon before gently frying it (without allowing it to become crisp). Meanwhile, place the marrowfat peas into a colander and rinse under running water. Stir the marrowfat peas into the bacon and cook for a further few minutes, stirring thoroughly. Serve with boiled potatoes and Dutch apple sauce.
