Appelstroop (Dutch apple syrup)

Prepare your very own authentic Dutch appelstroop at home using this classic recipe.

1 kilo of extremely ripe apples
250 gr of brown sugar

First rinse the apples and cut into pieces (without removing the peel or cores). Place the pieces of apple, together with the sugar, into a pan and add a splash of water. Next bring the apples to the boil, cover with a lid and cook for 1 hour. Once cooked, squeeze the apples through a fruit press and collect the juice in a pan. Place the juice back on a low heat and allow to simmer until it boasts a rich, syrup-like texture. Finally pour the apple syrup into a jar and leave to cool (the syrup will continue to thicken as it cools). If, however, all this sounds like too much hard work, then you can always purchase your appelstroop from online Dutch supermarket, Holland at Home!

Love Appelstroop (as does my entire family),but finding it nearly impossible to locate. Are you able to provide information as to where I may be able to obtain it, in the north Brisbane area.
