Filet Americain (raw beef spread)

Filet Americain is commonly available ready-made from the butcher or supermarket in the Netherlands, however, it’s also incredibly easily to prepare at home.

Ingredients:

1 ounce of prime beef fillet
1 tbsp. of Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. of capers
1 pickled gherkin
2 tbsp. of mayonnaise
1 tsp. of mustard
1 tsp. of paprika
½ a red onion, chopped
A pinch of salt
Freshly ground black pepper

Filet Americain

Preparation:

First cut the steak into cubes and then place, together with the remaining ingredients, into your food processor. Next finely grind the mixture and, hey presto, your Filet Americain is ready! You may store homemade Filet Americain for up to 1 day in the fridge, but it’s best served immediately. Delicious on bread or toast.

    Did you really mean 1 OUNCE of meat? surely it must be 1 POUND!
