Surinaamse roti (Surinam roti)

Surinaamse roti’s are the ideal choice for a sultry summer’s day. Now you can prepare this deliciously exotic dish in a jiffy, using the simple recipe below.

1 pack of Knorr mix for Surinam roti
2 chicken fillets
1 jar of Hak green beans
1 tin of Bonduelle crispy sweet corn
400 g of potatoes
5 tbsp. of sunflower oil

Surinaamse roti

First, cut the chicken into strips and place in a bowl. Rinse the beans, remove the stalks and drain the sweet corn in a colander. Open the Knorr marinade mix, mix with 3 tablespoons of sunflower oil and stir into the chicken strips. Next peel the potatoes, cut into slices and fry them with a little sunflower oil until golden brown. Now heat some sunflower oil in a wok and fry the marinated chicken strips. Once golden brown, stir in 350 ml of water, the Knorr sauce mix and the green beans. Allow to simmer on a low heat for 5 minutes. Next pour in the sweet corn and allow to simmer briefly once more. Finally slice open the pack of roti’s (on one side only), place in your microwave and heat for half a minute. If you don’t have a microwave you can always heat the roti’s in a non-stick pan (without using any butter or oil). Once ready, fill the roti’s with the chicken and fried potatoes and roll up before serving with a fresh salad. Tip: to give your roti’s an extra spicy kick, try adding a small spoon of King Bird sambal manis.
