Hollandse appelmoes (Dutch Apple Sauce)

A typical Dutch side dish that tastes simply delicious with just about everything!

4 large cooking apples
¼ of a lemon
4 tablespoons of caster sugar
100 ml of water

Peel the apples, remove the cores and cut into pieces. Next, place the apples, water, sugar and lemon into a pan and allow them to cook for around 20 minutes. Remove the lemon and mash the apples into a sauce with a potato masher. Allow the apple sauce to cool before finally adding some cinnamon to taste.
