A hearty Dutch bean stew… just as delicious in summer as in winter!
Preheat your oven to 200 C. Peel the potatoes and boil them in salted water, until tender. After draining, keep a cup of the cooking liquid for later and finely mash the potatoes. Next, melt some butter in a large frying pan and fry the onions until transparent. Now mix the beans into the mashed potato and add a few spoonfuls of the remaining cooking liquid. Add some marmite and salt and pepper to taste. Then, spoon this mixture into an oven dish, sprinkle with breadcrumbs and add an occasional knob of butter. Finally, pop the dish into the oven and bake until a nice, golden brown crust forms.
