Hete Bliksem (Potato and Apple Mash)

Comfort food at its best!

Ingredients:

1.5 kg of potatoes
1.5 kg of sour apples
40g of butter
1 spoonful of sugar
A pinch of salt
Pepper

Preparation:

Peel the potatoes and cut them in half. Next peel the apples, remove the cores and cut into wedges. Place the potatoes in a pan and half cover them with water. Arrange the apple slices on top and add a knob of butter. First bring to the boil and then gently simmer for about 30 minutes. Drain the remaining water and mix the apples and potatoes together with a wooden spoon. Season with salt, pepper and a little sugar and serve with smoked sausage or black pudding.
